Dear Swenson Family!

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you to the Swenson Family! My name is Judy Haughton and I am the Principal of Swenson Arts & Technology High School. I started my tenure at Swenson in 2018 as the Assistant Principal and now enter my fourth year as Principal. I am very proud to say that my entire professional career has been here in the City of Philadelphia! I grew up and was educated here in Northeast Philadelphia and I am proud to be a Philadelphia native.

At Swenson, we believe in these four A’s:

“Attitude, Attendance, Appearance & Ability! In that order!”

Have a great attitude! Come to school every day on time! Look like a learner! And use your ability to do your best work! That is what the four A’s is all about and if you can put the effort into your work here at Swenson embracing this motto, you will reap the benefits and succeed in every possible way.

We consider Swenson to be the absolute best CTE high school in the Philadelphia area! You have made the best possible choice for your high school career.  Our mission is to make sure you have everything you need academically, socially, and emotionally to succeed in high school and in your future endeavors.

Please know that every staff member here at Swenson has your back and is in your corner, starting with me! We are a family and as such we always back each other up.  We may not always agree, but we all have a voice and are able to use our voice to advocate for ourselves and our needs. We must do this in responsible and respectful ways and I encourage all members of our community to reach out to any staff member including myself if you have questions and/or concerns.

Dear Swenson Lions:

It is with great enthusiasm that I am a new addition to the Swenson family. 9th Grade will be a focus for me along with other responsibilities in the building. I believe in your potential and my job while at Swenson is to push you to greatness.

I’ve been an administrator as assistant principal and principal in elementary, middle, and high school. In addition, I spent six years at Dobbins learning about CTE model high schools. It has been a pleasure witnessing student learning through a hands-on learning model. I’m impressed at the educational excellence connected to our Swenson Lions. I’ve been in the district for over twenty years and look forward to bringing my expertise and knowledge to Swenson. It will take some time to get to know you, but I look forward to the time taken to build strong relationships where you trust that I have your best interest towards success.

I look forward to getting to know each of you.

My goal while working at Swenson is to support the vision and mission as presented by Principal Haughton. I’ve known Principal Haughton for over ten years in various capacities in the district. It is an honor to work with her as we work with you.

Swenson has a proud and sustained image of high expectations for students.
